Music & Worship
Worship is at the heart of all we do at St. George’s. This ministry team works with the Rector and Music Minister to plan meaningful worship for all services so that all may leave our services feeling nourished, sustained and energized for service to the world.
St. George’s is a great place to be involved with music.
When thinking about the role of the music ministry in the life of the church we often refer to Psalm 33:3, which instructs us make our musical offerings new, skillful and joyful, and to 1 Corinthians 14:15, which tells us to engage both the intellect and the spirit in our music.
At St. George’s, we provide multiple opportunities for worship through music. Our Parish Choir meets for rehearsal every Wednesday from 7 – 8:30PM. During this time we rehearse the choral pieces for various services and spend time praying with and for each other. Several times a year, a larger group of singers gathers on a Saturday night for potluck supper and rehearsal of an anthem offered during the next day’s 10:30AM service. The church has lovingly called this tradition Mega Choir. We also look for vocal and instrumental soloists.
If you are interested in any of these opportunities, or would like to receive information on upcoming events, including Simpson Concert Series performances and choir performances, please contact our Minister of Music, Ivan Stefanov, at email@example.com or call 207-363-7376, etx. 103.
