December Services

In addition to the usual Sunday and Thursday morning services, in December St. George’s will hold two Christmas Eve services, one at 5:00 p.m and one at 11:00 p.m. with a Carol Sing at 10:30 p.m., and a Christmas Morning service at 10:00 a.m.

Trinity will again host an ecumenical Service of Nine Lessons and Carols, Sunday, December 22 at 4:00 p.m. This is a hauntingly beautiful evening, rich in historic traditions, when people from all over the York community join together in song and scripture.

Ecumenical Youth Service Project: Safe Haven Animal Shelter

The middle & high school youth of St. George’s, First Parish, and YOUMC would love your support as we work together to practice good stewardship in our community. The children will be gathering food and supplies for a local organization—Safe Haven in Wells—who relies on volunteer help to care for the many homeless cats in our area.

Youth groups will be meeting on Friday, November 1 at 5:30 p.m. at First Parish Church to decorate drop boxes for our supply drive, and to make toys for the kitties. These drop boxes will be placed at our respective churches, as well as at York Public Library and Ann-imals Pet Supply in York. (Ann-imals has generously offered a 10% discount for any food/supplies bought at their store & placed in the drop box onsite there.) You can donate at our boxes all through the month of November. We humbly ask you to join with us as we seek to continue our practice of caring for creation. Thank you for partnering with us!

THE SAFE HAVEN WISH LIST (What we are collecting):
•   Canned cat food (pref Friskies)
•   Litter (pref clumping)
•   Cleaning supplies (paper towels, bleach, Dawn, vinyl gloves, large trash bags)
•   Cat treats, catnip, flea combs, cat brushes, cat toys

Sunday July, 7, we welcomed the 10th Episcopal Bishop of Maine to York! Rt. Reverend Thomas James Brown came and preached at the Trinity service. Below is a photograph of our Senior Warden, Holly, with the sign that was made to welcome the Bishop!

Mega Choir Sings with Spirit on Pentecost!

A total of 25 singers joined Minister of Music Ivan Stefanov for a joyous and inspiring Mega Choir offering on Pentecost. The singers joined together on Saturday, June 8 for food, fellowship and rehearsing at Holly Sargent and Robert Palmer’s home and then sang during the 10:30 service on June 9. Mega- choir is a St. George’s tradition that encourages members of the congregation who like to sing but cannot be a part of the regular choir to join for just one weekend to expand the choral ranks.

Calling all shepherds, angels and wise men!

If you’d like to join in the fun of our annual Christmas Pageant, please join us for practice this Sunday, December 18, directly following the 10:30AM service. We won’t keep you long! Roles and costumes will be assigned, and we will do a practice run.

Children who attend church school will be fitted during the 10:30 Sunday School class to make the best use of time. If there are adults that also wish to be fitted during church school, please feel free to join us downstairs! Everyone will gather in costume for practice together following the 10:30 service.

Then on December 24, our second and final practice will take place at 4PM (one hour prior to the Christmas Eve service).
