For over 32 years, the Ecumenical Meal has been an early spring event In York–on the first Saturday in March, this spring was no exception. The community gathered for a common meal–turkey with all the trimmings–and entertainment. Between those sitting down for dinner in St. Christopher’s parish hall, meals delivered to the homebound and “meals-to-go” taken home by attendees, roughly 500 people were served. Nearly all of the churches in town contributed turkeys, pies and volunteers–St George’s responded to an annual request for 6 turkeys, cooked and sliced, 10 home baked pies and willing volunteers to fill roles on the day of the event! Others who helped make this wonderful even possible at York Schools, York Hospital and our local Boy Scouts.
