During services on September 11, St. George’s welcomed six new Stephen Ministers. We are so very proud and grateful for all of them. Here’s a little video snippet of their blessing and introduction.
Our church school teachers will be on hand after services this Sunday to help get children registered for the program year.
During September there will be activities during church school time for the kids. They can be dropped off at the downstairs classroom between 10:20-10:30AM.
After Columbus Day weekend, we will begin Godly Play for children 3 years old to 2nd grade, and church school for kids in 3rd to 5th grade.
The next Simpson Series Concert will feature the York Festival Jazz Band, a professional jazz band sponsored by St. George’s Simpson Concert Series and directed by our own Ivan Stefanov.
The concert will begin at 2PM on September 17 at Moulton Park. The event is part of York Art Association’s Art in the Park program held the same day.
We hope you’ll bring your friends and family and enjoy the art and music that Saturday.
The book being discussed this month as part of this new book club at St. George’s is Grounded: Finding God in the World – A Spiritual Revolution by Diana Butler Bass.
A shift from a vertical understanding of God to a God found on the horizons of nature and in human community is at the heart of a spiritual revolution that surrounds us.
This is challenging not only religious institutions but political and social ones as well. Let’s talk about it. What do you think? Where do you find God?
Join us for a lively discussion. All books the group will be discussing this year are readily available through our local libraries or bookstores.
